San Antonio

Remember the Alamo? I do. That's because Tim and I just walked through it. (That was really cheesy, even for me.) The Alamo was an interesting bit of history. It's nothing like what it once was. Its been reduced to a few old buildings but it was still a fun bit of history. When we first entered we were in a gift shop and it was surprising how many different objects had “The Alamo” written on it. I've been tempted to buy patches from the various places I've been but they are overpriced and odds are I'll never do anything with them.

The main building of the Alamo looks a lot like it did on King of The Hill. Its lined with flags and artifacts. There was the actual rifle that Davy Crockett used. And James Bowie's knife, that's where the Bowie Knife came from. The battle at the Alamo was brutal. They basically got stomped by the Mexican army.

San Antonio is a very big and pretty city. I have this irrational hatred of Texas and I don't know why, but once you're there its not so bad. I could actually imagine living here, if they had a closer ocean. Right now Tim and I are eating at a mexican restaurant in this beautiful area called the River Walk. There is a loop of a river with all sorts of shops. It looks like Venice, its really pretty but I think I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

After the canals, we approached a city square with a really beautiful chapel that held the ashes of Davey Crocket and James Boone and Taylor.

We also approached this very tall tower. We contemplated taking the elevator to the top but it was a bit pricey and had some cheezy movie at the top. Plus every time I looked up at it I got crazy vertigo.
